Trust, listen and know that you are not alone - Michele Normand

You are blindfolded, in front of you obstacles scattered in various places, a mitt, chair, boxing glove, another team member, sticks.  The goal is to trust your partner through verbal communication to get you through those obstacles without running into one to reach the other side.  If you do hit an obstacle, 5 burpees for each obstacle hit. Could there be a greater lesson within this game?

Like life we are blind to what lies ahead in our future. Your goal to becoming a black belt seems pretty clear and individualized.  You go to class, learn the curriculum, practice and perfect, not expecting the unexpected obstacles and setbacks that might lie ahead however they will be there.  Obstacles such an injury, overload of personal responsibilities, lack of discipline, fear of failure, an illness, a family crisis. It can feel lonely, scary and defeating.  Like being blindfolded in the game you try to look ahead at the months ahead of you but you can't see and wonder how am I going to ever get through this?  That's when you need to trust, listen and know that you are not alone. Like in the game there are amazing people on the journey with you that are there guiding you, trying to help you avoid those obstacles but if you should hit one and you have to take time to do burpees they will wait and help guide you forward.

  1. Oh my gosh, I love the "obstacles" you listed that we have in life. I could totally relate! Thank you for this reminder to trust!
